Country Profile

South Sudan

The Drugs and Food Control Authority (DFCA) of South Sudan has enacted a compulsory regulatory framework to ensure the quality and safety of all pharmaceutical products. Effective 15 December 2024, all shipments must undergo:

  • Document verification
  • Physical inspection
  • Laboratory testing
  • Issuance of a Clean Report of Inspection and Analysis (CRIA)

Key Requirements

  • Mandatory Compliance: All pharmaceutical consignments must undergo pre-shipment inspection and testing by the Centre for Testing and Research Services (CTRS Group).
  • CRIA Submission: Importers must present a valid CRIA at South Sudanese ports for customs clearance. Shipments without CRIA will be denied entry.
  • Non-Compliance Measures: Non-conforming shipments will be quarantined or seized, with regulatory actions enforced.

Implementation Authority

  1. Verify shipment documentation.
  2. Conduct physical inspections.
  3. Perform laboratory testing.
  4. Issue the CRIA upon compliance confirmation.
